ABOUT ME

Hello there! My name is Zlatina, and I am the creator of Zlaten Diego Photography.

I am a specialised lifestyle photographer based in Sofia, Bulgaria, and I photograph newborn-, maternity-, and family- moments.

I guess it is right to say that my life choices have always been influenced by the need to visually express myself. I was 12 when I got accepted to a local Art school, and I spent my teen years working hard to become an artist. It is Fine Art that has shaped the way I compose my photographic images, and how I see colours, patterns and light.

My love for photography came as early as I can remember, since almost all of my childhood photographs were taken by my dad. I remember his old analogue camera, and how one red-painted light bulb would turn our bathroom into a magic darkroom. It is curious to see how much photography has developed since I was little, and yet, the real value of a family photograph is still equal to the memories it brings. 

WHAT I DO

I specialise in Lifestyle Family Portraiture where the focus lays on the true beauty of family connections, genuine emotions and real personalities. It is a combination of Photojournalistic and Traditional Photography. This means there is no stiff posing, no pretend smiling and nervous feelings.

All my sessions are on-location and with the use of natural light. Location is picked based on your family lifestyle and personal preferences. It is simply a place where you feel good and relaxed. You get to play, hang out and be yourselves. My main rule is that it should be a natural and fun experience for you, and that is exactly the feeling that I want to show in my photos. 

Your timeless moments together and all that matters deeply to you as a family is presented in images that last a lifetime. I capture the stories that unfold during our time together, turning them into beautiful visual memories for your future.

MY PASSION

I am a big softie when it comes to feeling a photograph. I can spend hours sitting with my childhood photos, like for example the one above with my mom when I was 3, and I swear, when I look at it, I can almost hear her voice calling me sweet names. There is clearly something called emotional value of a photograph. I am sure that we all have these type of photos that no matter the time distance, they take us back to that sweet memory, and like a time travel miracle, we relive the moment again, our hearts open and emotions start pouring back from the past.

These moments are what I always search for to capture when I am behind the camera. I really take it seriously that it is my responsibility to show you how beautiful you are together. Time goes by too quickly, the babies grow into toddlers and before you realise it they’ve finished school and are moving out from home. Photographs can freeze your simple but perfect everyday moments of fun, love and care that you experience together.

When you hire me for a photo-session, you are actually sending an emotion-filled message to yourself in 10, 20 or 30 years from now, sitting and looking at this moment from today. And to your already grown up child that will always be able to come back to this visual memory of being your loved little one. These precious moments will never grow old.

So actually no, it is not only a quality camera gear and fancy lenses. It is the essence of you and your loving care between you and your loved ones, seen through my trained eye while carefully manipulating light, angles and composition, to show you the simple beauty in your everyday life together.
